Our Coleman Construction & Utilities Limited team at Southern Water’s Hailsham South site have been pushing forward with their civil engineering programme of works. Working in collaboration with client CMDP, we have the following impressive progress to report over the last 2 periods.
Tertiary Treatment Polymer Dosing, Actisand and Wash Water Booster Area
Road construction works have continued, with both the 2nd and 3rd bays poured for the Polymer dosing access road. Road construction is being facilitated around deliveries of equipment, allowing the appropriate concrete curing time for both lorry and crane movements.
The Actisand Silo and Wash Water Booster concrete slabs have been installed ready for package plant deliveries. All finishing works that are possible have also been completed with shingle infill, topsoiling, and seeding complete.
The Actisand Silo was installed using a tandem crane lift organized by Veolia and Bartec on behalf of CMDP. Coleman Construction & Utilities Limited supported this installation with necessary preparation works, which included forming access ramps and installing crane pads.
Inlet Works Road Widening.
Road construction of the inlet turning bay has been completed, with the road widening works now commencing from the inlet works down to the new Tertiary Treatment area.
Secondary Ferric Dosing
The Secondary Ferric Dosing area has progressed with installation of chemical dosing lines, electrical ducts and drainage works. The sub-base has been laid to a blinding level with reinforcement and formwork now complete and ready for concrete pouring during the first week of June.
Oxidation Ditch Pipework
All pipework preparation works have been completed with the ground around the existing structures reduced, services exposed and diverted, to enable pipework installation to proceed.
Reinforced concrete blocks have been cast onto the existing structures to allow the installation of wall plates, 600mm gate valves and the attachment of the Coleman Construction & Utilities Limited specialist sub-contractor Swan Pipeline’s rig in readiness for drilling.
In advance of these works, Coleman Construction & Utilities Limited instigated proactive discussions for the design of the wall plate with CMDP, enabling swift fabrication and keeping plans on track.
Swan Pipework attended at the end of May and were able to successfully install 2No wall plates, drilling and fixing through the 600mm gate valves, RC blocks and existing structures. All works were completed safely, without any isolations or disruption to the running of the treatment plant.
