Coleman Construction & Utilities Limited (CCUL) is proudly assisting CMDP – JV with an upgrade of Bewl Reservoir on behalf of Southern Water and joined in with the celebrations of meeting a huge milestone pre-Christmas – completing a critical phase of the project ahead of schedule. All works involved will ultimately allow Southern Water to reduce the water level of the reservoir quickly, if needed, for example, to carry out repairs to the dam.
This is a major scheme for our CCUL team to be involved with and is a great experience for all involved with this project from the early stages supporting trial holes, assisting in ground investigation works, enabling works and site set ups.
Our team has been excavating into the dam crest, where 3No 1700mm diameter pipes will be installed and rebuilding the concrete revetment and wave wall. This work was delivered to high standards of quality, health and safety, with the team working collaboratively with Principal Contractor CMDP and all the other supply chain partners involved.
This year, the team will continue with completing the remainder of project, which will include tasks of backfilling around the discharge chamber and culvert and constructing new MCC kiosk bases for electrical upgrades to be completed.
